Products produced by bees

In addition to honey and wax, beneficial insects - bees - provide many other products that have a healing effect on the human body. The benefits and harms of such products are discussed further in the article.

Bees begin to collect pollen during the flowering season of fruit trees, garden and wildflowers. From the moment the first flowers are planted on the trees and plants until the end of summer or the beginning of autumn (as long as there are flowering plants), the bee collects useful pollen grains. The collection is simple: the insect sits on a flower, taking pollen and collecting it into pollen lumps on its hind legs. Then the raw material is transferred to the hive, where it is stored for feeding young insects or for eating by adult bees if necessary.

Beekeepers collect this product using special catcher frames. They are placed at the entrance to the hive, and when the bees return home and crawl into the hive, lumps of pollen remain in the trap. The composition of pollen contains a lot of vitamins, it is used both in the treatment and in the prevention of various diseases, decreased immunity, postoperative recovery and loss of strength.

Important! The use of pollen is not recommended for pregnant, lactating women and people with allergies to beekeeping products, as well as to diabetics.

The beekeeping product can be frozen: it still does not lose its beneficial properties. So that the pollen does not start to rot, it is dried before storage at a temperature of + 40 ° C in a special dehydrator (dryer for fruits and vegetables) or in the open sun, but so that other insects do not have access to it.

Pollen composition:

  • vitamin C and A;
  • amino acids;
  • carbohydrates (fructose and glucose);
  • water.

The caloric content of raw materials is 155 kcal per 100 g. Pollen is useful for immunity, skin, hair, and the gastrointestinal tract. It is recommended to use it with a decrease in hemoglobin, after prolonged fasting and as an immunostimulant. Be sure to consult your doctor before using pollen. Excessive use causes allergies, itching, and possible negative consequences - Quincke's edema.
