What conditions do you need to create at home

Hoya does not require special conditions, it is photophilous, but can tolerate a lack of lighting. He does not like sudden changes in temperature and drafts. Often it should not be watered and transplanted. It develops well in poor enough soil. For cultivation, it is recommended to use small and shallow hanging plastic flower pots. Flexible shoots freely descend, and do not require support. The plant grows rapidly, abundantly and continuously blooms with large inflorescences-umbrellas.

Seat selection

For a flower, choose a window seat on the east or west side. It is recommended to use hanging planters, as for ampelous plants. Sunlight should be enough, but from direct sunlight, burns on the leaves are possible, so it is better not to put a flower on the south side. It is necessary to protect the hoya from drafts.

Important! You can not often rearrange the hoya to a new place, it loses its buds and can die.

Temperature and humidity

The optimum temperature for active vegetation is considered to be + 20 ... + 25 ° С. Do not allow temperature drops below + 18 ° C for a long period. From the cold, the plant can throw off leaves and unblown buds.

The beautiful Hoya develops better in conditions of high humidity, in the summer it must be sprayed without getting water on the flowers and buds.

How to care at home

It is a pleasure to grow a beautiful hoya at home, it does not require much attention and a waste of energy. It is enough to choose a suitable place, water as the soil dries, periodically feed and admire the beautiful flowering. Did you know? In China, it is advised to put hoyu in the bedroom, this flower has a beneficial effect on the sexual relationship of a couple in love, fills the house with positive energy.

Watering

The flower does not require frequent watering; it tolerates a lack of moisture rather than its excess. The frequency of watering depends on the temperature in the room, you need to focus on the topsoil, and water when it is completely dry (approximately once a week). In winter, watered even less and prevent moisture stagnation. During the flowering period, the hoya needs more water, the frequency of watering is approximately 2-3 times a week.

For irrigation, it is advisable to use well-maintained soft water with a temperature 2 degrees higher than the room temperature.

Top dressing

The flower most needs feeding in the period of active vegetation and flowering. A weak fertilizer solution is applied to moist soil about twice a month. The solution should be weak so as not to burn the roots of the plant. It is necessary to use complex mineral and organic fertilizers, alternating them.

Pruning

Pruning is not needed for the plant; new flowers may appear on old peduncles.

Transfer

The flower does not require frequent transplants, it is difficult to get used to new conditions and blooms worse. It will be enough to transplant it every 3 years at the very beginning of spring, before the start of active vegetation. The pot should be small with a good drainage layer at the bottom. It is advisable to transplant along with part of the old soil on the roots, so as not to damage the weak root system, and carefully pour fresh soil into the pot.

How to propagate at home

There are two methods of breeding hoya:

  • cuttings;
  • layering.
The easiest way to propagate using cuttings. Usually take 3-4 cuttings. There should be more than four leaflets on the handle; it is cut in the center between the leaves. The lower pair of leaves is removed and the stalk is placed in a small container with water or with moisture-containing perlite. After 2-3 weeks, the first roots appear, after another 2 weeks it can be planted in a permanent place in the pot. For the quick appearance of roots, a container with cuttings must be put in a well-lit place with a temperature of + 25 ° С.

With the help of stem branches in the first year, you can achieve flowering of a young plant. This method consists in making a small incision with a sharp knife on the shoot, wrapping the place with sphagnum moss and wrapping with cling film. Roots appear in this place, after which the shoot must be cut and planted in a pot. You can plant three shoots in 1 pot.

Important! During the flowering of beautiful hoya in a small room, the aroma is very strong and can cause headaches and dizziness.

Growing difficulties

The flower is resistant to disease and difficulties in its cultivation are extremely rare. Only mistakes made during care can provoke his illness and damage by pests.

Possible problems, their causes and how to solve them:

  1. Stains appeared on the leaves - a burn in direct sunlight, or insufficient lighting. You need to find the best place for hoya.
  2. Leaves fall off - excess watering, hypothermia, use of cold water for watering, frequent relocation of the pot to a new place. It is necessary to ensure optimal temperature and moderate watering, you can not often change the place of a flower.
  3. Buds and flowers are falling - a draft, too hot and dry in the room, the plant was moved to a new place. If necessary, increase the temperature and humidity in the house, try not to change the location of the pot.
  4. The plant does not bloom - the place is poorly lit, abundant watering in winter. It is recommended to transfer the flower to a lighter place and do not water often in the winter.
  5. The flower does not grow well, casting is pale - there are not enough nutrients. It is necessary to transplant into fresh soil.
  6. Small red dots on the underside of the leaves - damage by a spider mite. Urgently treat the plant with an insecticide.
