Grape variety Asya: photo and description, cultivation secrets
Grapes are a popular fruit that is enjoyed with pleasure both in summer and in winter. Bright, sweet, aromatic fruits are used to make wines and juices, and also added to various salads. One of the varieties that you should pay attention to is Asya grapes. And how remarkable it is, how to grow it and what problems may arise, we will tell further.
Selection history
Asya grapes were bred by Ukrainian winegrowers as a result of crossing two grape varieties - Demeter and Dunav. Zoned in the southern regions and on the Black Sea.
Grade description
Asya grapes were developed not so long ago and is a hybrid wine variety. It belongs to early ripening crops: full ripening of berries occurs 115–130 days after buds open.

Appearance
Bushes are characterized by good growth power. With proper care, the vine quickly increases wood. Sprouts are strong, thick, but rather fragile. Leaves are five-lobed, bright green. Inflorescences of grapes are only female, which leads to the need to resort to auxiliary pollination. To do this, Asya grapes are recommended to be planted next to bisexual species that have the same flowering period.
The shape of the clusters is conical, loose, about 40 cm long. The weight of the hands is on average 700–1000 g. The berries are large, about 12–18 g, up to 4 cm long. When ripe, they turn purple-red. The pulp of ripe berries is dense, crispy, covered with a thin peel. The taste is standard, with a slight acidity. Sugar content reaches 18–20% with an acidity of 4–5 g / l.
Did you know? The largest vineyard in the world was founded in 1842 in California. After half a century, he gave more than 9 tons of crops.
Grape application
The resulting variety does not differ in excellent taste characteristics, but is perfect for the production of juices, wines (in combination with other varieties), preserves, compotes.

Advantages and disadvantages
Each culture has its pros and cons.
- The positive qualities of the Asya variety include:
- beautiful large clusters;
- lack of peeling;
- early ripening;
- universality of application;
- high and constant productivity;
- good adaptability of the bushes.
- Among the negative characteristics, the following are noted:
- the need to shelter for winter time;
- mediocre taste;
- average transportability;
- susceptibility to disease;
- mandatory additional care.
Proper fit
Planting grapes is not particularly difficult, but to get a good result, you must adhere to the rules of agricultural technology.
How to choose quality seedlings when buying
It is recommended to purchase cuttings exclusively from trusted manufacturers or in special nurseries. You should not rely on the advertising of dubious winegrowers - there is a possibility of buying either diseased seedlings or cuttings of the wrong variety. Good seedlings should be 1-2 years old.
Selecting planting material, first of all, inspect the root system. The calcaneal roots should be brown, formed, have branches and many filamentous processes. At the root cut, the color becomes light brown, but not black.

Important! Black, short, shriveled, ragged or sparse roots are an indicator of an unsuitable cuttings.
Where to plant on the site
For the Asya variety, it is better to choose the southern part of the garden or structure, near which the culture will be protected from gusts of wind and get enough light. For the root system of grapes, a lower arrangement of groundwater is preferable.

Did you know? In ancient times, grape pickers wrote a will before starting work, because grapes love to curl through trees and are climbed very high. Over time, the tree died and dried up, the branches often broke off under the weight of a person, so grape harvesting was a very dangerous activity.
How to plant
Planting time does not matter - Asya grapes take root perfectly if planted in spring or autumn. Despite the chosen period, care should be taken so that the cuttings take root before frost. Spring planting is safer. The plants planted in the spring have time to grow stronger and adapt before the onset of cold weather, stiffening and forming the root system. Such bushes give grapes for the next season.

At the same time adhere to such rules:
- Depth and width of the pit or trench. These parameters are completely determined by the size of the roots. As a rule, the depth should be at least 70 cm. Between cuttings leave a distance of 1.5–2 m, between rows - 2–2.5 m.
- Fertilizer landing pit. A fertile earth mixture enriched with complex fertilizers is added to each well.
- The correct placement. The heel part is placed in the hole with the peg, and only then the roots are straightened.
- The final work. After pouring the pit on ½, the soil around the cuttings is abundantly watered, then they are covered with earth and carefully tamped.

Features of seasonal care
Caring for Asya grapes is somewhat different from caring for other varieties. The main thing that you need to remember to get a good harvest is that the variety has only female inflorescences, so it needs additional pollination.
Important! You can not tie the plant vertically: in this case, only the upper eye will develop, and the rest will either grow weakly or not wake up at all.
Watering
Humidify the soil near the bushes several times a season, taking into account the plant's need for moisture. In arid, hot times, they are watered more often. On average, grapes need 3-4 buckets of water for each bush.

Top dressing
In the first 3-4 years after planting, it is not necessary to feed grapes. In the future, liquid fertilizer is used to fertilize the soil, combining them with watering. Nutrients alternate: minerals are replaced by organic. Nitrogen-containing preparations give good results, which are introduced in spring (before the start of the growing season and before flowering), and in the summer they are fertilized with potash and phosphorus complexes.

Prop and garter shoots
Grapes are needed to maintain the quality of the future crop and increase its quantity. To allow the kidneys to develop evenly, the vine needs to be correctly positioned. They also tie up the culture in order to protect it from gusts of wind and provide a more favorable environment for growth. In essence, grapes are lianas, so in natural conditions they have no shape: with their thin, tenacious tendrils, plants hold onto rocky surfaces or tree branches and stretch upward.

Soil care
To get a stable crop, the soil around the bushes is periodically cleaned of weeds, old and fallen branches, and extra stepsons. Fallen foliage and weeds are sources of many diseases, so they are carried away from plantings and burned. After wetting, the soil is loosened and mulched with a 3-5 cm layer of the root zone in order to increase the air permeability of the soil and retain moisture for as long as possible. As a mulch, a husk of sunflower or onion, as well as mowed grass, will do.
Important! Pruning is done carefully - the vine is very fragile.
Pruning
Since the variety is prone to powerful growth and the appearance of many stepsons, the bush must be regularly trimmed (normalized). In spring, the sprouts are cut into 6-8 eyes, leaving up to 40 stepsons for each bush. In the summer, unnecessary shoots and inflorescences are cut, as well as thin out foliage. In autumn, the shoots are shortened by 2/3 and the bush is prepared for wintering.

Cold protection
The variety tolerates frosts well, but still needs additional shelter. To do this, before the onset of frost, the processed vine is laid on the boards and covered with a heater (for example, agrofibre or black dense film). Important! Excess moisture, as well as drying out the soil, is harmful to the plant.
Having made the decision to plant “Asya” grapes at your site, you will make the right decision, because a culture will appear in the garden that will delight not only with a plentiful and stable harvest, but also with a beautiful decorative look.
