Juicy tasty pulp and persistent summer aroma of peaches attracts almost everyone, even newly minted mothers who breastfeed the baby. The article discusses the benefits and dangers of this fruit for a nursing woman and an infant, as well as whether and how much it can be consumed during lactation.

Can peaches be breastfed and in what form?

An already held mother during lactation, as well as during pregnancy, needs an increased amount of vitamins and other substances useful to the body. A nutritional balance is simply not possible if there are no fruits in the diet, and a peach must be in the summer menu of any person.

But it is with breastfeeding that the female regimen and nutritional composition undergo changes and severe restrictions. Mom should take into account the needs of her body, and her close relationship with the baby.

The fact is that in the first months of life, the child has an increased sensitivity to the nutrition of his mother, because through his mother’s milk his digestive system only gets acquainted with the food components and begins to digest new substances.

Canned store peaches in any container (glass or iron) and in quantities with high temperature are prohibited due to the content of harmful preservatives and hazardous chemicals, sweeteners and flavor enhancers.

If the preservation is homemade, then it is less safe, but it also contains sugar: it is better to use such peaches from the child’s six-month-old age.

In the second month

In the second month of lactation, peach can already be tasted, however, in the absence of a negative reaction, there is a certain amount (this is described in more detail below), in no case daily.

In the third and fourth months

But, starting from the third and fourth month of the baby’s life, the risk of allergic reactions is significantly reduced. If the child responds normally, the product can be consumed at least every day.

Terms of use

General recommendations for eating a fruit by a nursing woman are as follows:

  1. It is necessary to introduce peach into the mother’s daily diet gradually and carefully: for starters, before lunch, you can eat a small piece of fruit without a peel, and then look at the baby’s reaction.
  2. A child should be tested for fetal perception without introducing other potential allergens and generally new products.
  3. If the baby is all right, then he will not have a rash, spots, dryness and peeling of the skin on his face, tummy and neck, swelling of body parts, runny nose and irritation of the mucous membranes. In this case, it is possible to eat peach, but in small quantities, while a sharp increase in the portion is also not allowed.
  4. You need to start with a quarter, then increase to half the fetus, until you switch to a daily portion.
  5. As for peach juice, you can start drinking it with a quarter cup (it is mandatory only from the third month of lactation), but do not drink more than 4 glasses per week.
  6. Do not forget to thoroughly rinse the fruit before eating, despite the fact that you remove the peel.
  7. The loose and decaying bone inside is a sign of a non-natural peach. In this case, refuse to use it in any quantity.

The timing

As a rule, an allergy is cumulative in nature: it may not appear immediately, so after eating a piece of fruit it is better to wait a couple of days. If a newborn has a reaction in the form of an allergy or a malfunction in the digestive system, then for two months a nursing mother may forget about peaches.

The next attempt to introduce fruit into the diet is allowed after the baby is three or four months old, depending on what period of lactation, the mother tried to include peaches in the diet. Since the ripening of this type of fruit occurs in the middle of summer, they should not be bought and consumed until August or early September.

  1. Buy only seasonal, ripe fruit from a trusted customer. But it is better if they are homemade. Most of the fruits are characterized by a clear time frame, that is, in the season of their ripening, they are most rich in useful elements.
  2. A peach will be irregular in shape if it is natural.
  3. After the purchase, fruits should be kept in refrigerators both in the store and at home, since at room temperature they begin to deteriorate quickly. 5–7 days is the optimal period for their use after purchase.

Important! If a woman ate peaches before and during pregnancy, and felt normal, they are allowed to eat during lactation.

Thus, if you carefully approach the choice, norms and rules of eating peaches while breastfeeding a newborn, there will be no problems. The reaction of each baby to a particular fruit or any other product new to him is individual. And if one child does not react in any way to the use of peach by her mother, this does not mean that all children will do so, and vice versa.

It is worth remembering, however, that strong allergic reactions of the body, transferred in childhood, can provoke the development of dangerous chronic diseases, for example, allergic asthma, atopic dermatitis and others.
