Features strawberries varieties Jolie

Strawberry is one of the most important berries for summer residents. This plant requires constant care, without which it will not give a sufficient crop. The Jolie variety is commercial, aimed at implementation, and its fruits perfectly attract the buyer.

Description and characteristics of the variety Jolie

This variety does not have the ability to re-bloom and give a crop in the season, so all its forces go to the first setting. But the ovaries are large and prolific.

Description of the bush and fruits

A powerful and sprawling bush is able to yield a crop of berries almost up to a kilogram. It all depends on the conditions and the region of Russia where this strawberry is cultivated. Despite the spreading of the bush, it has numerous neat smooth leaves, which are slightly lowered down. Flower-bearing ovaries are formed below the level of leaves and more powerful than them.

Strong and large roots of the variety are able to withstand drought and small frosts. Strawberries have a conical shape, rich taste and bright red color. Fruits are large (up to 35–40 g) and dense, which makes them delicious. The pulp of this variety has no voids, dense and juicy. The outer side of the berries is glossy and uniform.

Important! After collecting the first wave of large berries, the fruits of the second wave are much smaller.

Frost and drought resistance

With a sufficiently high frost resistance and drought tolerance in a plant under difficult conditions, the yield and size of the fruit decreases. This is not a minus of the variety - just strawberry for all the achievements of heat-loving selection and requires good watering.

Frosty and dry days are simply contraindicated for her. And if they coincide, and the plant does not have competent care, then it will disappear. To prevent this from happening, in the cold regions the bushes are planted in piles with earth, which is covered by agrofilm.

This method allows not only to store heat in the upper soil layer, but also to prevent the spread of weeds.

Productivity

The variety has an increased yield, therefore, it is in demand among summer residents and farmers. The usual amount of berries from one bush is 0.7–0.9 kg, and with good care it is possible to get about a kilogram of strawberries.

In light soils, productivity is much better, since root formation is easier here and the root system is more branched. With clay soil, the roots develop weaker, which does not give the bush sufficient strength.

Grade Pollinators

The variety is self-pollinated, so it does not need bees, butterflies, bumblebees and other pollinating insects. In any case, their presence is welcome, but the plant is able to pollinate itself - the presence of wind is sufficient.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • The positive characteristics of the variety include the following qualities:
  • productivity;
  • drought tolerance;
  • frost resistance;
  • resistance to common diseases;
  • survival and vaccination;
  • regional independence.

  • With all the pros, any plant variety has its own minuses:
  • productivity depends on the place of cultivation and soil;
  • fertilizers must be selected according to the type of soil;
  • short fruiting period.

Planting seedlings

Before planting, carefully select the site where the seedlings will be placed.

At the same time, the following factors are taken into account for the equipment of beds:

  • good illumination;
  • lack of wind flows along the beds;
  • light non-acidic and non-clay soil;
  • soil moisture control without excessive moisture.

Landing is carried out both in spring and autumn on days when there is no bright sunlight. The bush will have time to take root in lighter environmental conditions. You can just plant the plants in the dug up and manicured soil.

Spring planting gives the bushes time to take root and adapt to growing conditions. In the autumn they will not have time for this, but, given the features of this powerful variety, it will begin to grow in the spring. The main thing is not to plant in August, even if this month turned out to be non-hot in the region - the dryness and poverty of the soil may prevent the bush from taking root.

Important! With a close occurrence of groundwater, it is better to make high beds or piles - the culture does not tolerate constant humidity, and its roots die.

Landing is made by such technology:

  • planting material is sorted out and weak plants are discarded;
  • roots are cut to a length of not more than 10 cm;
  • the roots of the bushes must be kept for several hours in warm soft water, into which you can add a light solution of potassium permanganate;
  • a large mug of warm water is poured into pre-prepared wells;
  • when water is absorbed, the plant is placed in the hole, and its roots are straightened;
  • the bush is carefully sprinkled with soil, which is compacted with hands, mulched with straw, shavings, peat, agrofabric, etc.

Subtleties of further care

In the next few days there are no subtleties of leaving - this delicate berry should take root in a new place, so you should not touch it. But after 3-5 days, given the love of culture for water, you can begin to water it. The need for watering is determined visually, taking into account natural conditions.

Irrigation intensity

As mentioned above, stagnation of groundwater near the roots of the plant should not be allowed. Also, liquid accumulation after watering or heavy rain is not allowed. In this case, the roots may rot. Read more about how to water strawberries frequently and correctly.

Optimal conditions are constant monitoring of soil moisture in the basal layer and its moistening, if necessary. The rate and frequency of irrigation is difficult to determine, but this needs to be done 1-2 times a week with an amount of water of 10 liters per square meter of plantation.

Soil fertilizer

Top dressing is done three times - when planting seedlings in spring, during flowering and the formation of ovaries, after picking berries. In the first case, organic fertilizers are used, in the second - phosphate, in the third - both phosphate and potash.

The use of chemicals must be carried out strictly according to the instructions. It is necessary to place top dressing in the root zone and then water the plant so that the beneficial compounds dissolve and “descend” to the roots.

Pest and Disease Control

The main pests of strawberries are strawberry mites, aphids and slugs, which are not averse to feasting on delicious leaves and fruits. The Jolie variety is protected from these insects, but they can be transferred to it from ordinary garden strawberries, and because of this, part of the crop may be lost.

Pest and disease control is carried out in the following ways:

  • Strawberry mite - when chopping and yellowing young leaves, the plant is removed from the site. If time was wasted, then after fructification the bush is cut off and “sticks” are left 6-7 cm high. The plantation is treated with an insecticide;

  • aphids are also removed using chemicals. If its quantity is insignificant, then you can just rinse the foliage with soapy water;

  • slugs like to eat sweets, so they need to kill the sweetness with ash, tobacco, mustard or traps with these substances from roofing material.

Diseases bypass this modern variety. You just need not to flood or damage the plants when processing the soil.

Did you know? Strawberries belong to the pink family, like cherries, cherries, peaches, apricots, apple trees, pears, almonds.

Harvesting and storage of crops

In industrial lots, this strawberry is harvested “with tails”, which allow you to save the crop for several weeks. The berry is taken by hand and twisted together with the stem. After that, the material is placed in plastic containers, which are placed in refrigerators.

In this way, strawberries of this variety can be stored for 2-3 months. If desired, you can put the fruits in the freezer and extend their shelf life. However, the defrosting process may violate the integrity of the berry.

The strawberry variety Jolie is interesting for summer residents and buyers - bright, large and rich berries on the counter are in demand. But there is another benefit - the pleasure of growing them. When creating the right conditions, this variety will give a good harvest of large berries.
