Strawberry variety Bereginya is popular among Russian gardeners. It is grown for their own needs and for industrial purposes. Consider its main characteristics and cultivation conditions.

Description of the variety and its characteristics

Strawberry Bereginya is the result of hybridization of the American Concord and Gonzago varieties. Breeding work was carried out in the Kokinsky stronghold of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "All-Russian Selection and Technological Institute of Horticulture and Nursery."

Important! When buying, you should distinguish between varieties Bereginya and Daughter Beregini. These are individual varieties bred from different maternal varieties.

Description of the bushes

Strawberry bushes are of medium height. Plantations are semi-spreading. The foliage is dense, in one bush 7-8 leaves. The leaf plates are green, concave in shape with a serrated edge, there is a slight ribbing and pubescence. Inflorescences are small with small pubescent peduncles. The petals of the flowers are whitish. The mustache is light red, compact.

Description of berries

Fruits are obtuse, bright red with an orange tint. The mass of one berry is 15–40 g. The pulp is dense and juicy. The taste of fruits is sweet and sour with a pronounced strawberry flavor.

Fruiting Dates

Bereginya is a late variety. The first berries ripen in the second half of June. The plant is non-permanent, bears fruit once in the growing season. Fruiting is stable, the size of the fruit does not decrease as it is harvested.

Pollination and productivity

Flowering varieties bisexual. Growing pollinators nearby is not required. The yield in the first year is up to 400 g of fruits from the bush. In the second year, indicators increase to 550-600 g per bush. In industrial cultivation, gardeners collect 13-16 tons of berries per 1 ha.

Resistance to climatic conditions

The variety is experiencing excellent summer drought. Winter frosts are not afraid of plantations either - plants do not freeze with a strong drop in temperature. If a little snowy winter is foreseen, it is advisable to cover the plantings in late autumn.

How to plant seedlings

Plant seedlings according to the following algorithm:

  1. Dig holes up to 15 cm at a distance of 20 cm from each other and 40–50 cm between the rows.
  2. Place seedlings in the wells.

  4. After planting, pour strawberry bushes.

Strawberry Care

A rich harvest cannot be obtained without regular maintenance of the crop. Agronomists include irrigation, top dressing, weeding, cultivation, preventive treatments and winter preparation as a mandatory measure.

  • after harvesting, organic matter, such as chicken droppings or liquid mullein.

Weeding and cultivation

Weeds are removed from the soil as they grow. It is important to tear out weeds from the root in order to avoid their further propagation. Rowing aisles is carried out after each watering. It is also important to fluff up the ground after rain. Keep the soil loose.
